I have been in your shoes when it comes to losing weight.  I grew up heavy and being teased in school.  I remember not ever feeling comfortable in my clothing.  I always wanted to be skinny. Of course, with all of the weight issues came the low self confidence and self hatred.  I grew up with so much emotion and always feeling like I had to defend myself.  This led to a lot of anger and resentment.   At my heaviest and hardest time of my life, I was 225 pounds at 5 foot 2 inches.  A size 22.  My defining moment that flipped my world upside down was what made me make a decision in my life that it was time to do something about it.  

I was laying on a raft at a close by lake.  I loved to lay out and take my daughter to play in the sand.  I was minding my own business and soaking up the sun.  I heard a lady and man talking just a little ways off. There were not many others at the lake that day.  So it was pretty quiet.  She said to her friend, "At least I don't look as fat as her laying on that raft."  I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  First anger but then came the embarassment.  I hadn't done anything to her.  How rude!  I got up and left.  I remember this one comment changed me forever.  I knew that it was time to do something.  My heart was broken but I let it empower me instead of feeling self pity.  It was my motivator.  

I began learning how to implement a healthy diet, exercise and lifestyle changes. I lost the weight but I didn't lose the self criticism.  No matter what I did I still felt like I didn't measure up.  I learned that the weight loss wasn't the only key.  It helped but I needed to work through the emotions of the things I believed about myself.  The feelings I felt affected all of my relationships.  I poured out my pain on others through words and actions.  So not only did I need to change my weight but I needed to change my mindset.  I worked for Jenny Craig as a consultant for a year and a half.  This is where I found my passion.  I loved working with others and teaching them how to become empowered to take control of their lives.  Life doesn't have to remain the same.

I made the decision to go to school and learn what a healthy diet was and not just a diet program, how to lose weight and help others get there also.

I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge and personal experience, I will help you create a completely personalized “road map to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
